Marques wants more goals from Manqele
JOHANNESBURG :Having scored four goals in five Premiership games, including a hat-trick against Mpumalanga Black Aces, Moroka Swallows boss Zeca Marques has called for more goals from striker Edward Manqele.Manqele joined the Birds on a season-long loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns, and has rocketed to the top of the Premiership scoring charts, much to the delight of his new coach in Soweto."To be honest, what I'd like to see from Manqele is to keep his scoring boots on," Marques said after Manqele's first half opener helped Swallows to a 2-1 victory over SuperSport United on Wednesday night."He's gaining in his confidence and that, in turn, transcends into the team. The team starts feeling more confident, they're giving him the ball more, he gets into the box more and he'll score goals."Manqele joined Sundowns from Free State Stars in June last year, but has fallen out of favour with Pitso Mosimane at the helm, leaving the Bafana Bafana international -- with two caps to his name -- out to prove a point at Swallows."With the goal that he scored against SuperSport, I thought he did exceptionally well," Marques said."Obviously, it's great to know he's scoring. I've told him that we are here to help him become a top goal-scorer again, but game after game he's got to score goals."After he scored all three goals against Black Aces last month, Manqele praised Marques for allowing him the freedom to play the way he enjoys."I am enjoying my football at the moment, and that is why I have been doing well," Manqele said of his hat-trick."I don't have pressure right now and the service that I have been receiving from my teammates has been quality."Marques warned that the onus was on the player to prove his worth to both Swallows and the national team."Sometimes players score goals and they think they've arrived.
He's scored three plus one so that's four goals already in five games. Fabio Fognini out, Tursunov advances in St.
