KHARTOUM - Sudan opposition leader Hassan al Turabi has added his voice to calls for President Omar al Bashir to step down. The leader of the Popular Congress Party says if the long-serving leader wants to avoid armed conflict, he should resign peacefully. Security forces have been battling protests in the capital that started after a fuel price hike.
Demonstrators are now demanding regime change. Al Turabi says al Bashir risks facing the same fate as other dictators in the region if he does not heed the people’s calls.
