Proteas hope to kickstart tour
Colombo - The Proteas T20 squad will be tasked with turning around the Proteas' disappointing tour of Sri Lanka when the first of three T20 Internationals takes place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday evening. Captain, Faf du Plessis, says the squad is dejected after the ODI series loss, but will need to look ahead and focus all of their energies into the T20 campaign. "We have some new faces which is great," du Plessis said of Imran Tahir, David Wiese, Wayne Parnell and Henry Davids.
The Proteas are hoping he will have the same effect as the Sri Lankan spinners, who accounted for the bulk of the wickets in the ODI series. "It's great to have Imran (Tahir) with us," he said. "He is an attacking spinner, he gets wickets and that is something that the Sri Lankan spinners do well. "They come on and immediately pick up wickets, it’s nice to have that kind of option in the team." The Nashua Titans duo of Wiese and Davids are both explosive options with the bat, and bring an exciting attacking mindset to the group.
