Camp set up for fire refugees
More than 900 people have been housed in a massive transit camp in Avoca, north of Durban. The residents were displaced from the Amathambo informal settlement when their 258 shacks were razed to the ground after a fire. The New Age witnessed a near fatal accident this week when one of the tents set up to house the women and 50 children almost fell onto a sleeping mother and her two-year-old toddler.
