Water pollution charge laid against municipality
The Lydenburg police station has launched an inquiry into the charges of water pollution and transgression of the protection of the environmental water act against the Thaba Chweu local municipality. The charges against the ANC-led municipality were instituted by the DA, the provincial police said. The opposition is accusing the municipal manager, Surprise Maebela and technical services head Thabo Pheeha for allegedly failing to resolve the sewer spillage issue which has been troubling the residents in various areas, including Kellysville, Mashishing and Skhila for several years.
